About
How Spatial Uplink
Multi-User MIMO works
Modern indoor environments are becoming increasingly uplink‑heavy as devices transmit video, sensor data and real‑time content — now amplified by the rise of AI‑assisted applications.
Spatial Uplink MU‑MIMO enables the IRU8850 installed base to meet these growing demands through a software upgrade only, with no new hardware required.

About
Spatial Uplink
Multi-User MIMO in action
UL MU‑MIMO enables a major uplift in indoor 5G uplink performance for both FDD and TDD by allowing up to four simultaneous uplink users (four layers) per cell with improved interference mitigation. Simulation results show that traditional DAS experiences rapid throughput degradation under load, while RDS provides more stable scaling. With UL MU‑MIMO, uplink throughput and scalability improve significantly beyond both architectures.
The study uses a large single‑floor office (50,000 m²) with 80 ceiling‑mounted Dots, 4,000 UEs, and the 3GPP Mixed Office model. Traffic follows 3GPP FTP model 1, with FDD 20 MHz at 2.0 GHz and TDD 100 MHz at 3.5 GHz (DDDSU).
